2nd Bundesliga, 1974 to 1983

This was followed by three rounds in the 2nd Bundesliga group south. In the 1975/76 season - Geinzer had participated in 24 missions - the "Club" came second in the table and therefore took part in the decider to determine the third climber against the north vice-runner Borussia Dortmund . In both matches that Dortmund won, Geinzer was not used. In Horst Buhtz's first year as coach , 1976/77, he was an indispensable regular player with 30 appearances and six goals. After 77 appearances with nine goals from 1974 to 1977 in the 2nd Bundesliga, Geinzer signed a contract with league rivals Kickers Offenbach for the 1977/78 round and moved to Bieberer Berg . He played a total of 297 games for 1. FC Nürnberg from 1971 to 1977.

In the fourth round, 1980/81, Geinzer and his new club were successful for the first time. In the two playoffs of the group runners-up against Eintracht Braunschweig, Geinzer directed the Offenbach defense. After Hesse's 1-0 home win, the North representative decided the promotion for themselves with a 2-0 game in Braunschweig. In the 1981/82 season, the OFC came in third place and Geinzer was also an interim coach in May and June 1982. In his last active year in the 2nd division in 1982/83, Geinzer and coach Lothar Buchmann experienced Offenbach's direct promotion to the Bundesliga by reaching second place . In 31 encounters he had once again successfully directed the defense. The 35-year-old ended his activity in Offenbach after the promotion and took over the player coaching position at Viktoria Aschaffenburg for the 1983/84 round . In total, Geinzer had played 187 games with ten goals for Kickers in the 2nd Bundesliga.
