Kurt Hartz

Kurt Hartz (born October 21, 1935 in Niederwürzbach ; † September 24, 2014 in Blieskastel ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

From 1964 to 1974 he was mayor of the Saarland community Niederwürzbach , and from 1980 to 1999 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament . He was also a union member and was employed by IG Metall as a union secretary. As the first authorized representative (managing director) he was in charge of the Völklingen administrative office from 1969 to 2000.

As an authorized representative of IG Metall and a member of the SPD state parliament, he was particularly committed to maintaining jobs in the steel industry in Saarland.

Kurt Hartz's brothers are the former VW HR director Peter Hartz (* 1941), after whom the Hartz concept for labor market reform was named, and Rudi Hartz (* 1940, † 2016). In 2000 he was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit.
