Kurt Heinrich (psychiatrist)
Kurt Heinrich (born October 7, 1925 in Mainz ; † March 24, 2015 ) was a German physician and psychiatrist.
Life
After serving in the war and returning from captivity, Kurt Heinrich studied medicine at the University of Strasbourg from 1952 . In 1959 he completed specialist training for nervous and mental diseases. In 1964 he completed his habilitation and received the Venia Legendi at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .
From 1962 to 1969 he was a medical officer at the Wiesbaden health department. In 1966 he also became a senior physician at the Mainz University Hospital . In 1969 he was appointed adjunct professor. In 1971 he moved to the Palatinate Psychiatric Clinic in Landeck as Managing Director .
In 1972 he was offered a professorship for psychiatry at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and director of the clinic and polyclinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Rheinische Kliniken Düsseldorf . In 1991 he retired.
Heinrich's main area of teaching and research was the importance of psychotropic drugs for psychiatric therapy. From 1975 to 1986 he was a member of the advisory board of the Interdisciplinary Study Society ISG in Munich.
Kurt Heinrich was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1982 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg and invested in Aachen Cathedral on December 11, 1982 by Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
