Kurt Hlaweniczka

Kurt Hlaweniczka (born January 5, 1930 in Vienna ; † January 28, 2008 there ) was an Austrian architect.

Life

Hlaweniczka studied architecture at the Technical University in Vienna until 1956 and then took additional courses at the ETH Zurich and in the USA. From 1959 he ran his own office. In addition, between 1962 and 1967 he was managing director of the Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbau GmbH (GEWOG). In the 1970s to 1990s, he often worked in joint ventures with other architects in Vienna and Lower Austria to create a number of large residential and administrative buildings. He often treaded completely new paths and is considered an Austrian pioneer in interdisciplinary overall planning.

Awards include: Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna (awarded April 12, 1988, taken on October 5, 1988), Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art (awarded September 18, 1976), Cross of Honor for Science and Art I. Class (awarded March 25, 1977) and in 1992 the appointment as honorary senator of the Vienna University of Technology.
