Kurt Holke
Kurt Holke (born September 11, 1922 in Magdeburg ) is a former German soccer player and coach.
Athletic career
As a left wing and center forward, he was one of the most famous players in the predecessor communities of 1. FC Magdeburg , most recently BSG Motor Mitte Magdeburg.
After the end of his active career in 1954, the trained machine fitter remained loyal to the BSG and SC Aufbau Magdeburg as a member of the coaching staff. He worked as an assistant coach until 1962, after which he was responsible for the youth division, where he trained, among others, the later national players Manfred Zapf , Jürgen Sparwasser , Jürgen Pommerenke and Wolfgang Seguin . He led the junior team of SC Aufbau three times to the GDR championship. On June 1, 1969, Holke took over the position of head coach at the relegated league club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . After first place in the southern relay of the GDR league and the immediate return to the GDR league , he reached tenth place in the table with Lok in the 1970/71 season . He then became a coach of the U-23 national team at the GDR Football Association (DFV) . In 1974 he took part in the world championship finals as assistant coach of the GDR team. In 1976 he went back to 1. FC Magdeburg as head coach. He held this position until 1983.
