Kurt VI. Riedesel zu Eisenbach (* 1603 ; † May 27, 1665 at Ludwigseck Palace ) from the Ludwigseck line of the later (from 1680) barons Riedesel was hereditary marshal of the Hessian landgraves from 1640 to 1665 .

family

Kurt Riedesel was the son of Hereditary Marshal Volprecht IV. Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1578-1632) and his first wife Sidonie von Dörnberg (born July 13, 1578 in Hausen ; † July 8, 1824 in Treysa ).

Kurt Riedesel had the sisters Anna (1602-1625) and Anna Catharina (1612-1665) and the half-brother from his second marriage Wilhelm Georg (1627-1667) and the half-sister Apollonia (* 1629).

On June 23, 1627 in Merlau, he married Johanette, born von Lehrbach, the eldest daughter of Melchior III. von Lehrbach and his wife Dorothea born von Lauter.

The marriage resulted in four sons and five daughters. Volprecht Riedesel zu Eisenbach (Hereditary Marshal, 1628) became Hereditary Marshal. Other sons were Hermann XIV Riedesel (* 1629), Hermann Adolf Riedesel (1629–1707) and Joh. XVI. Riedesel (died probably 1629). The daughters were Anna (died 1704), Appollonia (1639–1641), Hedwig (1640– after 1695 and before 1718), Sidonia (1641– before 1683) and Veronika (1644–1687).

Life

Kurt Riedesel received private tuition from a Preceptor and, after completing his university studies, made a cavalier tour of Holland from which he returned in 1622. With the death of his cousin Georg in 1640 he inherited the dignity of Hereditary Marshal and the rule of Riedesel .
