Kurt Schaumann (filmmaker)
Kurt Schaumann (* 1909 in Berlin-Schöneberg , † 1970 in Soest ) was a German amateur filmmaker .
He has lived in Soest since 1949 and worked as a teacher at the Aldegrever-Gymnasium there , where he made numerous films and short films , particularly on the subject of art and artists (films about Otto Modersohn and Hans Kaiser, among others ). Schaumann's works have won awards in Cannes , Kattowitz , Tunis , Helsinki , Vienna and Johannesburg , for example . His film about Dadaism ( "Da Da Chronicle of Dadaism" (1961) ) was particularly successful . His commitment also went beyond working on the art theme, as can be seen from his film "Waiting Room with / Without Hope" (1967) , which was made in collaboration with the psychiatrist Heinz Schultka at the state psychiatric hospital in Eickelborn (today Lippstadt-Eickelborn ) was created and deals with the changes in modern inpatient psychiatry .
