Kurt Spurey

Kurt Spurey (* 1941 in Mariazell ) is an Austrian ceramist .

Live and act

Spurey studied silicate technology at the technical and commercial college in Vienna and was entrusted with setting up and managing a design studio at ÖSPAG from 1968 to 1971 , before becoming a freelancer in 1971. From 1973 to 1975 he made a lecture tour in the USA , Canada and Israel and also taught there. From 1988 to 1989 he accepted a teaching position at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld . The artist is a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien and the artists' association MAERZ .

Spurey's works can be found in a number of domestic and foreign public institutions: in the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna , the Albertina Vienna , the Hetjens Museum Düsseldorf, the Keramion Frechen, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam , the Sprengel Museum Hannover , im Taipei Fine Arts Museum , the Kunstindustrimuseet Copenhagen , the Museo internazionale dell Ceramiche Faenza , the Museum of modern Ceramics Gifu and the Victoria & Albert Museum .

Awards

In 2010 he received the recognition award of the Salzburg Ceramic Prize and in 2012 the Golden Laurel of the Künstlerhaus Vienna.
