The central themes in Bruch's work are light and proportions, which relate to natural laws and take shape in “open forms”. His works relate to
- light as an "open medium",
- the gravity ,
- the Fibonacci sequence or the “ golden ratio ”.
Because his works relate to the reality of the immaterial, his sculptures and sculptures are not reduced images or abstractions of the visible, but rather follow the requirements that give shape to the material world and shape it. The resulting “open forms” build on universal constants and lead to infinity.
Hellmut Bruch prefers stainless steel and transparent, colored, fluorescent acrylic glass as materials .
