Kurt Sumner (born December 7, 1973 ) is a retired British biathlete .

Kurt Sumner serves with the Royal Marines' 45th Commando . He competed in his first international race at the 1998 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie , where he was 41st in the sprint and 53rd in the pursuit. Since 1999 he has also competed in the European Cup races . He contested his first races in Champex-Lac , where he was 30th in an individual and 37th in a sprint. His best result in the racing series he achieved in 2003 with a 24th place in a pursuit race by Geilo , after he had previously won points for the first time as 26th of the sprint. In Kontiolahti , Sumner took part in the European Biathlon Championships in 2002 and came in 43rd in the singles, 50th in the sprint and was 12th in season with Marc Walker , Lee-Steve Jackson and Joe Brooks . In the following season 2002/03 the Briton also made his debut in Antholz in the context of the Biathlon World Cup . He finished his first race in 86th place. Shortly afterwards, he was 63rd in Lahti and missed the pursuit race by just three places. It was the best place in the World Cup that he was able to achieve again in an individual at the season finale in Östersund . This was followed by another participation in the 2003 European Biathlon Championships in Forni Avoltri . Sumner did not finish the individual, was 53rd in the sprint, 48th in the pursuit and with Brooks, Stephen Hope and Lance Hodgkins 15th in the relay race.

Sumner won several national titles in biathlon and cross-country skiing. In 2002 he was champion in biathlon both in the relay and in the team classification, and again in the team classification in 2003. There are also other medals won. Also in cross-country skiing, he won the title with the relay and with the team in 2002, and in 2003 he repeated the relay title.
