Joe Brooks (born November 19, 1971 in Glasgow ) is a former British biathlete .
Joe Brooks began biathlon in 1998 and was promoted to the national squad in 1999. The Sport soldier of the Royal Marines from 45 Commando Royal Marine lives in East Kilbride , trained in Boldon and studied at St. Andrews College . He was trained by Jason Sklenar . Brooks contested his first international race in 2001 in a Biathlon European Cup race in Ridanna , where he was 54th in the sprint. In 2002 the Scot made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz . He finished his first race 94th of an individual. The first major event was the 2002 European Biathlon Championships in Kontiolahti . In Finland, Brooks reached in individual as well as in the sprint Rank 51 in the relay, he was as a circuit rotor on the side of Marc Walker , Kurt Sumners and Lee-Steve Jackson 12. Also in 2003 he ran at the European Championships in Forni Avoltri and was 47th in Individual, 55th in the sprint and 50th in the pursuit. With Sumner, Stephen Hope and Lance Hodgkins he was also 15th with the season. It took Brooks two years to compete again at a major event. In Hochfilzen he took part in his first world championship . In the individual as well as in the sprint, he ran to 87th place. With Walker, Jackson and Tom Clemens he was 20th in the season. In 2007 , he again competed in Antholz for his last World Cup. In individual he was 97th, in the sprint 101st. The best result in the World Cup was a 64th place in the sprint of Fort Kent in 2004 .
Brooks was able to achieve several successes nationally. In 2002 he won the titles in the relay and team competition, in 2003 he repeated these titles with his regimental team and also won the title in the military patrol race. In 2005 he won his only title in an individual race with gold in the mass start, in addition there was a bronze medal behind Walker and Sklenar in the individual.
