Kurt Vollmer (born June 23, 1934 in Schwaikheim ; † November 8, 1998 ) was a German politician of the FDP .

Life and politics

Kurt Vollmer completed a commercial apprenticeship as a vehicle mechanic and was owner of a bus company in Schwaikheim until 1972. In 1960 he was one of the founders of the FDP local association. From 1962 he was a member of the local council, from 1965 he also belonged to the district council, initially in the Waiblingen district , and from 1973 in the Rems-Murr district .

Vollmer was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the first time in the 1968 state elections, but initially failed to defend the mandate in 1972. The FDP suffered heavy losses, which particularly affected the FDP strongholds in northern Württemberg such as the Rems Valley due to the changed political orientation in the course of the social-liberal coalition in Bonn .

In 1972, Vollmer became the main representative at Süddeutscher Rundfunk . In the state elections in 1980 he succeeded in re-entering the state parliament, which he then belonged to for twelve years until 1992. He represented the Waiblingen constituency through a second mandate . Kurt Vollmer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, in 1992 .
