Kurt Winkhaus

Kurt Winkhaus (* 7. September 1898 in Bochum ; † 6. February 1970 in Hamm ) was in World War I officer in World War II military lawyer , most recently with the rank of General Judge of the German Luftwaffe .

Life

Winkhaus joined the 8th Foot Artillery Regiment on November 20, 1916 as Vice Sergeant in the Reserve and officer aspirant . Later he served in the Artillery-Lichtmeßtrupp 43 and in the foot artillery regiment 20 . After the demobilization of these regiments in January 1919, Winkhaus left the army on January 31, 1919 and began studying law. In 1919 he became a member of the Alemannia Münster fraternity . He completed his studies from February 1, 1919 to December 1921 at the University of Münster and Marburg / Lahn . On December 16, 1921, he passed his first state examination in law. This was followed by his legal preparatory service in the local courts of Hörde , Dortmund and the regional court of Hamm from January 1, 1922 to July 1925 . On October 29, 1925, he successfully passed his second state examination in law. On November 23, 1925, Winkhaus entered the civil service and initially worked there until the end of September 1927 as a court assessor at the district court in Schweidnitz .

From October 1927 to the end of March 1928 he acted as an assistant judge at the district court and regional court in Dortmund. Winkhaus then worked from April 1928 to the end of March 1929 as a lawyer and notary representative in Schweidnitz, Arnstadt and Detmold . He then returned to the Dortmund Regional Court as an assistant judge, where he was used again in April 1929. From May 1, 1929 to the end of February 1930, Winkhaus did a trial service at the Protestant consistory in Berlin and Münster, where he worked as a consistorial assessor from March to September 1930. On October 1, 1930, Winkhaus was promoted to consistorial councilor and was employed in this position at the Protestant consistory in Münster and Magdeburg until the end of March 1935 .

On April 1, 1935, Winkhaus joined the Air Force, where he was initially employed as a probationary military justice officer in the Reich Aviation Ministry (RLM) until the end of October . He was then from November 1935 to the end of February 1936 a judge at the court of the higher commanders of the flak cartillery in Münster. Winkhaus then acted as a judge at the Air Force Higher Court in Münster, later in Vienna, until May 19, 1939 . Here he rose on May 20, 1939 to the senior war judge of the service supervisory district 4 (Vienna). He held this position until the end of September 1942.

From October 1942 to May 8, 1945 Winkhaus was chief judge in Luftwaffenkommando 4, later in Luftwaffenkommandos 2 and 10. Here he was transferred to the officers of the special troop service on May 1, 1944 and at the same time renamed general judge. At the end of the war he was imprisoned, from which he was released in 1947.
