KwaGuqa is a city in the South African province of Mpumalanga . It is located in the municipality of Emalahleni in the district of Nkangala .
geography
In 2011 KwaGuqa had 130,920 inhabitants and thus more than the central town of eMalahleni (formerly Witbank), which is only a little to the east . The place consists of two separate settlement areas. In 2011 around 97 percent of KwaGuqa's residents were black; 47 percent of the residents stated isiZulu as their mother tongue , around 18 percent Sepedi .
history
KwaGuqa was built as a township for black South Africans who were used as cheap labor in the coal mines around what was then Witbank.
Economy and Transport
Immediately south of KwaGuqa, the N4 , which is part of the Trans-Kalahari Highway , runs in a west-east direction . The R104, which, like the N4, connects eMalahleni with Bronkhorstspruit in the west, lies roughly parallel to this .
