Lány , until 1960 Čtyřicet Lánů (German: Vierzighuben ) is a district of Svitavy (German: Zwittau ) in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic . Lány extends along the Svitava River .
history
Vierzighuben was first documented in 1360. It is located south of Zwittau and has always been part of their parish . The place belonged to the table rule Zwittau, which was subordinate to the Diocese of Olomouc . This was also the seat of the upper office for the rule of Zwittau until secularization .
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the district of Zwittau until 1945 .
Vierzighuben was raised in 1914 by the village community to a market town and in 1960 it was incorporated into Svitavy. In the course of the incorporation the place got its current name Lány , the cadastral district is still called Čtyřicet Lánů . A prefabricated housing estate was built there in the 1980s . This initially served as a place of residence for the construction workers of the Schamott factory from the Federal Republic of Germany, then the factory workers moved in. The apartments were fully furnished. They were already equipped with color TVs , microwave ovens and complete kitchen facilities.
In 1991 there were 5443 people living in Lány. The 2001 census counted 636 houses and 6137 inhabitants.
