Léon Vachet

Léon Vachet (born December 29, 1932 in Châteaurenard , † November 11, 2010 ) was a French politician of the conservative UMP .

Since 1988, Léon Vachet has been a member of the National Assembly of the 15th electoral district of the Bouches-du-Rhône department for a period of four terms . In Parliament he was a member of the Economic Affairs Committee. On June 17, 2007, he was beaten in the second ballot by his fellow party member Bernard Reynès . He was also a long-time member of the Regional Council of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region .

The retired farmer was a Knight of the Legion of Honor and an officer of the Ordre du Mérite agricole . After his death on November 11, 2010, Marseilles Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin called him an "uncompromising defender of French agriculture".
