The Lübecker Straße 135 building is a listed railway keeper's house in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The building is located on the east side of Lübecker Straße at its southern end in Magdeburg's Neue Neustadt district . Immediately south of the house runs the Berlin – Magdeburg railway line , which bridges Lüneburger Strasse over the Lüneburger Strasse railway bridge. Nearby are the Magdeburg-Neustadt train station and the office building at Laaßstraße 2, 3 other buildings with a connection to the railway.

Architecture and history

The two-storey red brick building was built in 1901/02 in connection with the construction of the Magdeburg-Neustadt train station a little further to the east. It is oriented towards the eaves facing Lübecker Straße and was used to accommodate two official apartments for middle-class officials of the Royal Railway Treasury.

The building, designed in the neo-Gothic style, was built by the Royal Railway Directorate of the Prussian State Railways . The five-axis facade is structured by bright plaster mirrors, some of which are designed in the form of pointed arches . Towards the street there is an asymmetrical flat risalit placed in the third and fourth axis, crowned by a stepped gable . The windows on the ground floor of the house are segmented arches , and on the upper floor they are pointed arches .

On the gable sides and on the tips of the gable there are small staggered ornamental gables. While the facade of the southern front side is also elaborately designed, the north side is more simple. The house is covered with a high pitched roof .

In the local register of monuments , the building is listed as a railway keeper's house under registration number 094 82224.
