The Weststadt is a district of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony .

The elongated district borders on the old town and Kreideberg districts to the west . Despite the name, the district is not the westernmost part of Lüneburg; the district Mittelfeld follows here .

The city's two hospitals are located in the district - the municipal hospital in the south and the Lüneburg psychiatric clinic in the north. Furthermore, the area of ​​the saltworks, the Sülzwiesen and the Lüneburg Kalkberg belong to this district. Accordingly, large parts of the district are practically uninhabited, but the area south of the saltworks in particular is all the more densely populated. In addition, the Leuphana University of Lüneburg operates the "Volgershall" branch here.
