Wilschenbruch is a district in the south of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony . With around 600 inhabitants, it is clearly the smallest of the Lüneburg districts.

history

Wilschenbruch's beginnings go back to the year 1360, when the von Meding family was run as a fiefdom. In 1466, the same farm was pledged to Dietrich Wülsche, from whom the name is ultimately derived.

After well-known patricians as owners, such as Viskule, von Dassel , von Witzendorff , ownership passed to the Rittmeister von Bülow in 1803 . In its time, the manor was known as a destination with a pub and bowling alley. The estate was about Amselweg, at the corner of Reiherstieg. Residential development in the form of villas began in 1906 from there to Auekamp.

In 1905 the Lüneburg soccer club LFC, founded in 1901, leased the Auekamp today, Lüneburg SK Hansa . As a result of the bankruptcy of the association in 2014, the site was sold and converted into building land; residential development will begin in mid-2015.

In the period 1920–1936, and especially from 1960, Wilschenbruch got its current appearance.

Economy and Infrastructure

The area, located between the Ilmenau and the Hamburg - Hanover railway line, consists almost entirely of residential buildings.
