Lützelburg

The Lützelburg , also known as the Vorder-Lützelburg , is the ruin of a hilltop castle near Ottrott in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace . It is part of the Ottrotter castles .

history

The castle probably dates from the first half of the 13th century. In 1372 it was possibly destroyed by Enguerrand VII. De Coucy . In 1392 the " Burgstall " was owned as an imperial fiefdom by the von Andlau , followed by the Rathsamhausen -Ehnweier in 1393. In 1570 it was at least partly in ruins again, in 1856/57 the castle was restored.

Layout

The well-preserved pentagonal ruin with a round keep and shield wall is accessible to visitors as part of guided tours. The mantle wall castle is surrounded almost all around by a kennel and has a barbican in the north .
