The EL 13 series of the LEW Hennigsdorf describes an electric locomotive that was built in 125 copies from 1955 to 1993.
development
These mine locomotives were built in different versions exclusively for export. The four units built for Poland in 1955 were still referred to as 25 t locomotives. Of the 121 locomotives built from 1971 onwards, two were exported to Poland as EL 13/01 with a track width of 785 mm. 74 pieces of the variant known as EL 13/03 with a track width of 900 mm were exported to the Soviet Union until 1982, and another 45 to Kazakhstan in 1992/93.
Constructive features
mechanics
The frame of the locomotive was made from welded heavy plate . The locomotive has a central driver's cab. The pantograph was on the rear stem. The brake was designed as a manual spindle brake with brake pads on each wheel. The locomotive's braking system included a direct-acting air brake.
Electrics
Each axle was driven by a drive motor in the cradle bearing . With the cam travel switch, ten series speed levels, six parallel travel levels and ten braking levels can be selected for the separately ventilated DC series motors via a resistance control. The motors required for the compressor and ventilation are fed via catenary.
