The EL 7 series of the LEW Hennigsdorf is a battery locomotive that was built in two copies from 1953 to 1956. The locomotive built in 1953 was delivered to the Ehrenfriedersdorf tin mine and the locomotive built in 1956 was exported to Poland .

development

Only two copies of this mine locomotive were built in 1953 and 1956. It was the largest battery locomotive from GDR production.

Constructive features

mechanics

The locomotive had an outer frame as a supporting structure and a terminal cab. The locomotive had an escort stand at the head end. It was carried out with a welded frame. In its construction it represented an LEW EL 8 extended by a battery box. As a parking brake, it had a hand spindle brake.

Electrics

The battery voltage was 112 V with a capacity of 2 × 455 Ah. Each axis was driven by a drive motor in the cradle bearing . The speed steps can be selected with the cam switch. The two drive motors could be connected to the accumulators in parallel or in series, which resulted in the basic speed steps, further intermediate speed steps could be set by means of field weakening .

The locomotive exported to Poland was designed to be firedamp proof .
