The LG G Flex 2 (code name internat. Model: H955 ) is a smartphone of the G series from LG and the successor to the LG G Flex . The LG G Flex 2 was presented to the public on January 6, 2015 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and was available in Germany from the beginning of March 2015. The smartphone replaced the previous LG G Flex model presented in October 2013. The official market launch price in Germany was 649 euros. The G Flex 2 is LG's smartphone with the fastest and most drastic price drop so far, with the market price breaking through the EUR 250 mark just 8 months after its release in November 2015, which is less than 40% of the original recommended retail price. The smartphone is 149.1 mm × 75.3 mm × 9.4 mm in size and weighs 152 grams.

Display

The smartphone has a 5.5 inch display (screen diagonal 13.97 cm) in P-OLED technology with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a resulting pixel density of around 403 ppi. This means that the display size has been reduced by 0.5 inches compared to the previous model, while the resolution (previously 1280 × 720 pixels) and thus also the pixel density (245 ppi for the first G Flex) have been significantly increased. The characteristic curvature of the display ("Curved-Display"), which was first introduced with the G Flex, was retained.

System-on-a-chip

The System-on-a-Chip is a Snapdragon 810 with eight cores and 64-bit support from Qualcomm , consisting of four ARM Cortex A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz, four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and one Adreno 430 graphics unit.

Storage

The G Flex 2 has 2 GB DDR4 RAM . The flash memory is 16 GB (about 8 GB of which are freely usable) and can be expanded by up to 2 TB with a microSDXC card.

camera

The smartphone features the already known from the LG G3 13- megapixel - Rear camera module with optical 2-axis image stabilization (OIS +), laser autofocus and dual photo light with different color temperatures. The camera supports video recording in 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) at 30 frames per second.
On the front, above the display, there is a second camera with a resolution of 2.1 megapixels that can record photos and videos in a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels.

Others

The smartphone supports all of the reception frequencies common in Germany for the GSM, UMTS and LTE cellular networks. The G Flex 2 can establish data connections via WLAN according to the standards 802.11 a, b, g, n and ac as well as via Bluetooth 4.1. In addition, the LG G Flex 2 has NFC aka Android Beam and an infrared transmitter that can be used to control most televisions, BluRay players and other devices.
There is a connection for headphones and a Micro-USB 2.0 connection, which can be used to connect external monitors with HDMI input using a SlimPort adapter. The battery has a capacity of 3,000 mAh and cannot be replaced.

software

When it was launched, LG used Android 5.0.1 as the operating system . An update to Android 6.0.1 has now been distributed.
LG's own software add-on "UX 4.0" supports the "Knock" functions known since the LG G2 (including activating the smartphone by tapping twice on the screen) with "Glance View" and the option of being in standby mode with a light swipe of the finger to get the time and current notifications shown on the display.

particularities

Like the G Flex, the G Flex 2 is clearly curved forward, similar to a banana. The curved case is also flexible within certain limits and can be bent a little under strong pressure, but returns to its original shape afterwards. As a result, the smartphone should nestle comfortably against the face when making a call, and on the other hand damage, for example when sitting on it when it is in the back pocket, should be prevented. The back of the G Flex 2 is provided with a "self-healing" coating, with which the smallest scratches close again by themselves, making the smartphone less prone to unsightly blemishes.
