LIONS 1 is a rescue helicopter operated by AAA Alphine Air Ambulance, a subsidiary of the Lions Air Group . The helicopter with air identification HB-ZUE is stationed at Birrfeld regional airport . The base was established on November 1st, 2011 by the Lions Air Group. Originally, the use of the helicopter was only planned as an intensive care transport helicopter and organ transport helicopter. Since 2013, however, the helicopter has been part of the public rescue service of the canton of Aargau and is coordinated and used by the Aargau medical emergency number 144. Since then, it has been used as an emergency doctor and rescue helicopter in primary deployment in the cantons of Aargau, Zurich , Schwyz and Schaffhausen . But missions are also flown in Germany, especially in Waldshut . The HB-ZUE machine is an Airbus Helicopters H 135 rescue helicopter , built in 2008. The helicopter was originally owned by Schider Helicopter Service GmbH in Waidring , SHS for short. The SHS is an Austrian emergency doctor helicopter operator with four operational bases in Waidring, Kufstein , Zell am See and Kaltenbach . Its original registration number and radio call sign was OE-XRU. Originally it was painted wine red, later white and red. It received its Swiss approval on September 25, 2018. It was used to replace the machine with registration HB-ZJE. In this context, it also received its blue and yellow paintwork in the colors of the AAA Alphine Air Ambulance.
