In addition, it carries out all organ transports for Swisstransplant . The helicopters with the radio call signs " Lions 1 " and "Lions 3" also operate in neighboring German countries. The AAA was originally founded as a joint venture between Lions Air Group AG and Touring Club Switzerland, TCS for short. The TCS held 49% of the shares and the helicopters and vehicles were labeled “TCS Ambulance”. But the Swiss Automobile Club withdrew from the rescue and patient transport business at the end of 2015. Despite the withdrawal of the TCS, rescue activities were left with the AAA. Since the end of 2018, AAA has been operating the rescue helicopter base in Balzers in Liechtenstein on behalf of “AP³ Luftrettung”, a joint venture between AAA, DRF and the air rescue service of the Austrian Red Cross, or ARA for short . No noise calculations, an environmental impact study and a proper approval procedure with the possibility of objections have been missing for the lawful stationing of the rescue helicopter since operations began in December 2018.
