Easyjet Switzerland SA (proper spelling: easyJet Switzerland ) is a Swiss airline , based in Meyrin and based on the Basel-Mulhouse and Geneva airport . EasyJet owns 49% of the company's shares. The Swiss airline operates flights under the franchise of the parent company; It is not possible to book a flight directly with easyJet Switzerland.
history
Easyjet Switzerland emerged from the Swiss airline TEA Switzerland , in which easyJet acquired a stake in 1999. The British parent company would otherwise not have been able to operate flights from Switzerland to other non-EU countries due to the bilaterally agreed freedom of air .
easyJet holds 49% of easyJet Switzerland shares and an option on the remaining 51% at a symbolic price. The other shareholders also do not receive a dividend, so that the company is practically controlled by easyJet.
At the end of March 2020, Easyjet suspended all flight operations for an indefinite period due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
