Helvetic Wings SA was a Swiss regional airline based in Meyrin at the Aéroport International de Genève .
history
The airline was founded on October 29, 2003 and primarily linked Swiss cities such as Basel , Lugano and Zurich by air. The flights are carried out with small passenger aircraft of the types Pilatus PC-12 and Beechcraft 1900D . Helvetic Wings has never received an operating license for its own aircraft because the Swiss Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA) did not allow commercial passenger flights with single-engine aircraft. For this reason, Helvetic Wings started operations on June 21, 2004 with aircraft chartered from Twin Jet ; According to the FOCA, the independent operating license should be issued one to two years later, after the decision was made as to whether certain single-engine aircraft should also be approved for commercial use. However, the airline had to cease its flight service on October 11, 2004.
