Air rescue in Switzerland

The air rescue in Switzerland by a majority of the Swiss Air Rescue (short Rega operated) or its affiliates. Rega and its partners can be requested in Switzerland by calling the alarm number 1414 (Wallis 1410 Air Zermatt - Upper Wallis , 1415 Air-Glaciers - Lower Wallis ). The REGA is alerted via the respective rescue control centers for operations in southern Germany .

The Swiss Air Rescue ( Rega for short ) is a non-profit private foundation for air rescue . Rega operates twelve of its own air rescue stations and one air rescue station in Meyrin near Geneva with a partner. The canton of Valais is an exception, where Air Zermatt and Air-Glaciers are responsible for air rescue. Air Glaciers has its own emergency telephone number 1415. Rega also operates a fleet of three ambulance aircraft .
In the canton of Aargau , AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG has been operating an intensive care transport helicopter (ITH) to Birrfeld airfield since November 1, 2011 . The AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG was founded in 2011 as a joint venture of the Touring Club Switzerland and the Lions Air Group AG founded. In April 2013, the operation of the primary air rescue service as a rescue helicopter was approved and converted. In December 2015, is Touring Club Switzerland as a shareholder from four years ago together with the Lions Air Group AG founded AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG dropped out. Since December 2018, AP3 Luftrettung has been operating a rescue helicopter at the Balzers heliport in Liechtenstein in 24-hour operation, in this context the helicopter is used for organ transports in Switzerland in addition to primary rescue and relocation transport. The flight operations are carried out by AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG. This helicopter ( Christoph Liechtenstein ) is the first location of AP3 Luftrettung , a cooperation between the German DRF Luftrettung , the Austrian ARA Flugrettung and the Swiss AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG .
