The airfield Lausanne-Blécherette is a regional airport in the canton of Vaud , Switzerland .

location

The airfield is located in the north of Lausanne in the Bossons / Blécherette district . It is connected to the A9 motorway (Blécherette exit) and bus lines 1 and 21 of the Transports publics de la région lausannoise . It is about ten minutes by car from the city center. It is located on a plateau and is surrounded by meadows and a farm. A base for the Swiss Air Rescue , a petrol station and a restaurant are located at the airport area.

history

The place created by the city was first used as a flight path by Henri Speckner from Geneva in 1910 and one year later it was one of the first civil airfields in Switzerland.

The question of hangars , which should be used for setting up the aircraft and maintaining them, quickly arose . A first hangar was built in 1914 west of the runway, right next to a farmhouse. Due to the heavy use of the airfield, a second hangar was soon required, which was built in 1922 together with a studio east of the runway.

Since May 1, 1993, the company Aéroport de la région lausannoise "La Blécherette" SA , which owns the concession, has been responsible for the management . This was renewed in 2006.

The runway, which initially consisted of grass, was replaced by asphalt in May 2000. The airport is dedicated to leisure and business flights and is not served by any airline.
