The airfield Arezzo ( it .: Aeroporto di Arezzo-Molin Bianco "Ermanno Bartolini" ) is located in the central Italian region of Tuscany , about 2 km west of the provincial capital of Arezzo .
Infrastructure and use
The airfield has a 660 meter long and 30 meter wide asphalt runway with the orientation 12/30. An asphalt taxiway leads from the landing threshold 12 to an apron in the north-west of the airfield. To the east there is a heliport and another asphalt apron, which is connected to the other facilities by a grass runway. All three aprons have small hangars and handling facilities.
The airfield is used for general aviation and as a base for a flying unit of the Italian fire brigade equipped with helicopters . Apart from the base, the local aviation clubs operate the airfield. These are the Aero Club Arezzo “Luciano Centini” and the parachute club Paracadutismo Etruria that emerged from it . A company has also set up shop at the airfield that offers various services with its helicopters. The Aero Club has a flight school at the airport, the Parachute Club offers skydiving courses and the company mentioned also trains helicopter pilots.
history
The airfield was built in 1917 as a factory airfield for the company SACFEM (Società Anonima Costruzioni Ferroviarie e Meccaniche) . In 1923 the Italian Air Force took it over and used it for training purposes. It was largely destroyed in World War II. After the reconstruction, it remained formally a military airfield for several years , but was mainly used for civilian purposes.
