The castle of La Capelle (12th century)

La Capelle is a former French commune in the department of Gard . Today it belongs to the municipality of La Capelle-et-Masmolène .

geography

The two places Masmolène and La Capelle have almost grown together. They are only separated by a small wooded hill. La Capelle is the eastern of the two places. The terrain is wooded and fertile. The center of the newly formed community is in La Capelle .

history

After the French Revolution , La Capelle initially formed an independent community. It initially belonged to the arrondissement of Uzès and the canton of Saint-Quentin. From 1801 it belonged to the canton of Uzès and the arrondissement of Nîmes . In 1814 it merged with the municipality of Masmolène to form the municipality of La Capelle-et-Masmolène, which still exists today.
