La Janda is a Spanish comarca in the center of the province of Cádiz in Andalusia . The name originally refers to the La Janda lagoon , which extends over an area north of Tarifa .
The comarca includes the municipalities of Alcalá de los Gazules , Barbate , Benalup-Casas Viejas , Conil de la Frontera , Medina-Sidonia , Paterna de Rivera and Vejer de la Frontera .
geography
La Janda borders in the north on Campiña de Jerez , in the west on the Bahía de Cádiz and the Atlantic Ocean , in the south on Campo de Gibraltar and in the east on a very small piece on Serranía de Ronda in the province of Málaga .

landscape
The comarca is known for its almost endless sandy beaches of excellent quality. The Río Barbate flows through the territory and supplies the region with water with the Celemín reservoir . The Cape Trafalgar in the town of Barbate is considered particularly impressive freak of nature. Much of the comarca is in the Los Alcornocales National Park with the sights of Cueva del Tajo de las Figuras and the Sierra del Aljibe .
Judicial districts
Alcalá de los Gazules, Benalup-Casas Viejas, Conil de la Frontera, Medina-Sidonia, Paterna de Rivera form under the roof of Chiclana de la Frontera , which does not belong to the comarca, the 1st judicial district of the province of Cadiz, while Barbate is the 14th The judicial district is owned by Vejer de la Frontera.

The Laguna La Janda is an important natural area as it is considered to be one of the few remaining natural breeding grounds for the raspberry .
