La Junta is a place in the US state of Colorado .
It is the county seat of Otero County and has 7077 inhabitants (2010).
La Junta is located on US Highway 50 and on the south bank of the Arkansas River . Nearby, about ten kilometers northeast, is Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site , which has the status of a National Historic Landmark . Ten buildings and sites in La Junta are listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of April 11, 2020).
