history

The Ferdinand De Lesseps was created under the hull number 1 in Forges et Chantiers de la Gironde in Bordeaux and was launched on July 21 1951st Exactly one year later to the day, the ship was handed over to Messageries Maritimes, who put the ship into service on October 3, 1952 on the route from Marseille to Mauritius .

After almost seventeen years in the liner service to Mauritius, the Ferdinand De Lesseps went in April 1969 under the name Delphi to a Greek shipowner who had it converted into a cruise ship in Perama in 1970 . In the same year, the ship began operating in the Mediterranean .

After the Delphi in since November 1976 Piraeus rested , she went in 1977 under the name of La Perla to the Cypriot shipping company Perlus Cruises . After three years in service, however, the ship was arrested in Liverpool in January 1980 . In the same year it went to Intercruises under the new name La Palma and was henceforth used for cruises from Venice .

In 1992 the La Palma changed hands again and went to the Greek Navicruises Shipping Company based in Piraeus, for which it remained in service for four more years. On November 10, 1996, after 44 years of service, the ship was laid up in Piraeus and arrested the following year due to financial difficulties of the owner. After almost seven years of lay in Piraeus, the La Palma went in June 2003 under the transfer name Sagar to be scrapped in Alang, India, where it arrived on July 13, 2003.

The La Palma had three sister ships : the Jean Laborde , sunk in 1991 as Oceanos , the La Bourdonnais scrapped in 1977 and the Pierre Lotti scrapped in 1986 .
