The annual precipitation is hardly more than 400 mm, whereby the monthly precipitation in the dry season is less than 20 mm and only in the southern winter reaches values of almost 100 mm.

Transport network

La Parroquia is located at a distance of 75 kilometers by road northwest of Tarija , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Tarija the highway Ruta 1 leads north, pierces the Cordillera de Sama in a north-westerly direction and leads via the town of San Lorencito to Cieneguillas and on to Camargo , Padcoyo and Potosí . Four kilometers west of Cieneguillas, a dirt road branches off in a north-westerly direction from Ruta 1 and reaches La Parroquia after another nine kilometers.
