The La Suprema is a ferry of the Italian shipping company Grandi Navi Veloci which was put into service in 2003 . It has been in service on the route from Olbia to Genoa since 2007 .
history
The La Suprema was laid on June 1, 2001 under the hull number 1221 at Nuovi Cantieri Apunia in Marina di Carrara and was launched on August 21, 2002. After the delivery to Grandi Navi Veloci on May 13, 2003, the baptism took place in Genoa on May 24. The following day, the ship began ferry service from Genoa to Porto Torres .
On the route to Porto Torres, La Suprema was operated by Grandi Navi Veloci together with Grimaldi Lines , which is why the ship carried the Grimaldi Lines logo on the hull during this time. In 2007 it switched to the route from Olbia to Genoa.
In February 2008 a sale of La Suprema to Vietnam was reported. However, the planned takeover in October of the same year did not materialize. Instead, the ship continued to sail on the route from Olbia to Genoa.
In September 2017, the La Suprema was chartered by FEMA to San Juan to be used as a residential ship for people who had become homeless after a hurricane. In February 2018 the ship left San Juan again.
The older sister ship of the La Suprema is the La Superba , which entered service in 2002 .
