La Tapoa

La Tapoa (also: Tapoa ) is a village in the rural municipality of Tamou in Niger .

The village, led by a traditional chief (chef traditionnel) , is located around 40 kilometers southeast of Tamou, the capital of the rural community of the same name, which belongs to the Say department in the Tillabéri region. Directly south of the village flows the river Tapoa of the same name , which is dammed not far from the settlement by the Tapoa dam before continuing through narrow gorges.

At the 2012 census, La Tapoa had 126 people living in 33 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 176 in 18 households.

The entrance to the Nigerien part of the National Park W is in La Tapoa . There is a hotel in the village. The approximately 47 kilometer long road between La Tapoa and the town of Say in the northeast was opened on May 30, 1970. The civil airfield La Tapoa ( ICAO code : DRRP) with an approximately 1190 meter long, unpaved runway is located near the settlement .
