action
In Mexico City, the population is being terrorized by a gang that always uses a gray car for their robberies and other crimes. The police can arrest the group and its members are sentenced to death. On the day of the execution of the death sentence , many citizens in their best clothes gather in front of the prison. The film then ends with the prisoners being led out of the prison and to the post in front of the prison wall where they await their execution.
background
The story told in La banda del automóvil gris was based on a real gang of criminals that operated in Mexico City and that were said to have political links. After several murders, robberies and kidnappings, they were caught in 1915. The director Enrique Rosas filmed the execution of these criminals, which inspired him to film this topic. He took up a Mexican theme, while most of the films produced in Mexico at the time were thematically oriented towards French and Italian films. The film was produced by the companies Azteca Films and Roses, Alva, y Cía , with locations in Mexico City , Apam and Puebla . La banda del automóvil gris premiered on December 12, 1929 in 28 cinemas in Mexico City.
