The Dressel family of German descent, consisting of the resolute Mrs. Dressel and her two sons Federico and Rodolfo, runs a hardware store in Mexico. Magdalena receives a visit from her former singing teacher Gonzalo, who is in love with her. Federico learns from his mother that Gonzalo has invited Magdalena over. After an argument with her mother-in-law, Magdalena accepts the invitation, but leaves again because Gonzalo has made preparations for an intimate meeting. At the same time, Federico receives an anonymous letter accusing Magdalena of adultery. Federico and his mother visit Gonzalo, but meet him alone. In view of the hatred of Mrs. Dressel and the anonymous accusation, Magdalena wants to separate. But Federico and his mother apologize, so that the couple reconciles after all.
