La forza [la ˈfɔrtsa] ( Italian for "The Force") is a song by the Estonian opera singer Elina Netšajeva , released on January 22, 2018 by Timulition . With her song Netšajeva competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon ( Portugal ), where she reached eighth place in the final with 245 points.

Musical and content

The song was composed by Mihkel Mattisen and Timo Verndt. Mihkel Mattisen was already responsible for the Estonian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 , “Et uus saaks alguse”, performed by Birgit . Timo Verndt also worked as a composer for an Estonian contribution to the ESC in 2014 , namely for Tanya's song “Amazing”. Netšajeva and Ksenia Kuchukova, a colleague from the Tallinn Opera, gathered the text from various Italian operas. It is about the power of love, which is always a guide for lovers.

Eurovision Song Contest

With the song "La forza" Elina Netšajeva represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 after she won the Estonian preliminary round Eesti Laul 2018 . In the first semifinals, the song reached fifth place with 201 points, allowing Estonia to qualify for the final for the first time in three years. There Elina Netšajeva reached eighth place with 245 points.

During her appearance at the ESC, Netšajeva wore a projection dress weighing eight kilograms and 52 square meters, which was transported to the stage with the help of six people within 35 seconds before her performance with the singer.
