La tierra del mariachi (German: The Land of Mariachi ) is a Mexican film from 1940. This film, which belongs tothe ranchera genre, was directed by Raúl de Anda , who also wrote the screenplay.
The film is about the young man Jorge Vargas, who left his fiancée Isabel in Mexico when he immigrated to the USA. He writes her letters, but they are intercepted by the villain Juan, who woos her. Because of this, Isabel thinks that her fiancé forgot her. She almost gives in to Juan's bidding when Jorge returns. He manages to reveal the dirty tricks of his rival and thus wins back the love of his fiancée.
La tierra del mariachi was Raúl de Anda's directorial debut. He also produced it with his own company Prods. Raúl de Ana. The film had its premiere on July 20, 1938. The film was also released in the USA, where the premiere took place on December 2, 1938. The evaluation on the American market was carried out by Cinexport Distributing in Spanish.
