View from the summit to the southeast: the second generation of the system on La Siala, built in 1983 and demolished in 2015; the new station of the gondola will be built in the same place, while the valley station is a little further down the valley. |
The Laaxer Stöckli ( Grisons Romansh Piz Grisch , literally "Gray Summit") is a 2898 meter high mountain in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . The summit drops steeply to the north to Tschingelnalp and Elm , while the summit drops gently towards Flims . Since December 22nd, 1963, the La Siala ski lift operated by Bergbahnen Flims made it accessible to almost 100 meters below the summit in winter. The ski lift originally had a diversion station, in 1967 the faulty construction, which was prone to breakdown, was divided into two sections. The drive was initially carried out by a diesel engine, which is why it was necessary to transport hot water from the Nagens hut to the Mughels station in the morning to thaw the frozen cooling water. In 1983 the ski lift was replaced by a chairlift up to 2,813 meters. This made it possible to climb the connection to the Vorab glacier without the previously necessary small ascent. This connection was opened when the Crap Sogn Gion mountain railways were merged with the Flims mountain railways to form the LAAX ski area . A new lift will replace the now 30-year-old open chairlift from winter 2015/16.
The path closest to the summit leads over the Grischsattel, a blue and white marked mountain hiking trail from the Grauberg area (from Flims ) to the Martinsmadhütte . From the saddle you climb the north ridge of the Laaxerstöckli (T4) to the summit. Other routes to the summit are pathless from other directions except northwest.
