The Labüskesee is a natural lake in the district of Milmersdorf in the Uckermark district ( Brandenburg ).

Location and hydrography

The Labüskesee is approx. 1.5 km northwest of the center of Milmersdorf and approx. 8 kilometers east-northeast of the old town of Templin. It is completely within the boundaries of Milmersdorf. The western bank area belongs to the Labüskewiesen nature reserve. The Labüskesee has an area of ​​37.8 ha, the lake level is 51.9  m above sea level. NHN . It has a depth of about 6.5 m and is stably layered; the trophic index is given as 2.8, ie it is eutrophic. According to the topographic map 1: 25,000 sheets 2747 Templin from 1932, it is over 9 m deep. There are two tributaries: a river from the Temnitzsee and the Templiner waters from the Kölpinsee . In 1573 and 1618 the lake is mentioned as the Lebüsichen . In 1714 the lake was called Labüsicken. In 1719 there is the spelling Lebussckesche See . In the Schmettauschen map series from 1767/87 it is called Labüscke See . In the original table sheet from 1826 he is shown as Libesike . The name derives from a Gf * Lubuz (i) k- to aplb. * Labuz = Kalmus , reeds from.

In the original table sheet, sheet no. 2847 Templin from 1825 there is a log on the east bank and on the south bank. On the topographic map 1: 25,000 2847 Templin from 1911 there is a wooden shelf on both the north and south banks, from which wood was transported by water.

North or northeast of the lake, and certainly not far from the shore, in the Middle Ages was the field mark of the town of Lebüske named after the lake (mostly written with an e in literature ), which fell again in the 14th century. The Lebüske, Collin (= Lebüske?) And Ahrensberg farms were built on the field mark of the deserted village in the 18th century, and were abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Labüskesee is leased from Uckermark Fisch GmbH Boitzenburg. Since 2013 this lake is no longer a fishing water. According to the Anglermap, only professional fishermen are allowed to fish there.
