The Fährsee is in the course of the Havel inflow Templin waters in Brandenburg Uckermark . It extends upstream and east of the city of Templin at a distance of 3 to 6 kilometers from its center. It belongs to the natural area of the Schorfheide .

With 223 hectares, the lake is the third largest body of water in the Templiner Seenkreuz. Its east-west extension is about 3 kilometers, its width up to 900 meters.

Upstream are Labüskesee, Kölpinsee and Gotts See, as well as the Temnitzsee to the side . The Kuhzer See ditch flows into the Fährsee itself from the north . The Zaarsee , into which the Lübbesee digs , is fuzzy from the Fährsee . The Bruchsee connects downstream. Further lakes follow up to the Havel. The river sections are traditionally called Templiner Canal (up to Röddelinsee ) and Templiner Wasser (up to Havel).

The Fährsee is part of the 22 kilometer-long federal waterway Templiner Gewässer (TlG) of waterway class I, a branch of the Upper Havel waterway (OHW); The Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible .

The shores of the Fährsee are densely lined with forests, and there are several campsites on the western bank at the “Hotel Fährkrug”. The greatest depth is 21 meters, in the lake there are two islands, the rabbit island and the fishing island. The Fährsee is ideal for water sports and fishing tourism. There is a water ski trail around Rabbit Island.

The fish species eel , perch , bream , chub , pike , carp , burbot , roach , rudd , tench , bleak , catfish and pikeperch are found in the lake .
