Laetitia Calmeyn

Marie Laetitia Calmeyn (born September 6, 1975 in Brussels ) is a Belgian Roman Catholic theologian.

Life

After training in nursing, Laetitia Calmeyn initially worked from 1996 to 1999 as a nurse in palliative medicine at the Deux Alice clinic in Brussels. She graduated in theology in 2002 and in canon law in 2004 at the Institute for Theological Studies in Brussels. At the Pontifical Institute John Paul II for Studies on Marriage and the Family in Rome , she was awarded her doctoral thesis “The Word in History and the Symbolism of Action. Essay on the theological principles and foundations of morality based on the work of Father Albert Chapelle SJ “in theology with honors.

From 2009 to 2018, Laetitia Calmeyn taught at the Collège des Bernardins in Paris and was Associate Professor of Theological Anthropology and Basic Moral Theology at the Notre Dame Faculty.

In 2018 she was appointed Consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith by Pope Francis , as were Michelina Tenace and Linda Ghisoni .

Laetitia Calmeyn stands in the stand of a Consecrated Virgin in the Diocese of Paris; the consecration in Notre-Dame-des-Victoires took place on June 23, 2013.

Act

From 1998 she became involved in the community of La Viale (“Communauté de La Viale”), a Jesuit project , for the organization of retreats for young people (1998–2001) and taught Catholic religion at the European School in Brussels (1999–2001). 2000). Between 1998 and 2009 Calmeyn gave various courses, for example the encyclicals Veritatis splendor and Evangelium vitae for young managers, a seminar on the Gospel of John for the Poor Clares in the monastery in Malonne near Namur and moral theological courses for the communities of Jerusalem in Brussels.

She has published numerous scientific papers.
