Willow Chapel (Altendettelsau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The willow chapel is a chapel of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Peter (Petersaurach) in the Windsbach deanery . It was built in 2012 from willow branches on the district road AN 19 between Altendettelsau and Petersaurach . In the immediate vicinity there was a Lady Chapel, which was built around 1350. In this four times a year masses were read for the poor souls of the deceased from the surrounding villages. After the Reformation , the chapel slowly seems to have fallen into disrepair. The floor plan of the chapel could still be reconstructed on the basis of the nature of the soil and is now illustrated by the box planting.

Today the willow chapel is looked after by an ecumenical working group. Baptisms, weddings and devotions are offered here on request.
