The Lago di San Colombano is a reservoir in the lower Vallarsa valley in the province of Trento . It is partly in the municipality of Trambileno and in the municipality of Vallarsa .

The lake dams the Torrente Leno di Vallarsa for about 2 km just above the hermitage of San Colombano . The 35 m high dam was built in 1966 at an almost 83 m wide narrow point in the valley and is part of the multi-stage San Colombano hydropower plant , the machine house of which is about 1 km below the dam. The reservoir is also known as the Moscheri basin after the town of Moscheri, located north above the lake, seat of the municipality of Trambileno.

On its north bank, a partly narrow path leads from the dam wall along the whole lake. In the upper area, there are a few spots for bathing. The southern bank, on the other hand, slopes steeply into the lake for the most part and is not accessible by paths.

Fish fauna

Due to the low altitude, there are numerous fish species in Lago di San Colombano compared to higher reservoirs: Rutilus erythrophthalmus (a species from the genus Rutilus ), roach , chub , rudd , lake trout , marbled trout , rainbow trout and perch .
