The Laguna Conguagua (also: Laguna de San Jorge or Laguna San José ) is a lake in the transition area between the two departments of Beni and Santa Cruz in Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Laguna Conguagua is located west of the upper reaches of the Río Ibare in the plain of the Llanos de Guarayos , seventy kilometers north-northwest of the city of Ascención de Guarayos . The lake lies at a height of 160  m and extends fifteen kilometers in length and up to six kilometers in width. Its area is 68.6 square kilometers and the circumference of the lake is 37 kilometers. Administratively, the northern part of the lake belongs to the municipality of San Andrés in the province of Marbán , the southern part to the municipality of El Puente in the province of Guarayos .

The Laguna Conguagua is located in the Bolivian lowlands, the climate is semi-humid and characterized by a balanced temperature curve with only minor fluctuations, which is typical for the tropics.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 25 ° C (see Urubichá climate diagram) and varies only marginally between 22 ° C in June and July and 27 ° C from October to February. The annual precipitation is about 1,150 mm, with a weak dry season from June to September with monthly precipitation below 45 mm, and a significant humidity period from November to March with monthly precipitation between 140 and 200 mm.
