The Municipio El Puente (Spanish for: The Bridge ) (also: Municipio Tomayapo ) is a district in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of El Puente is the western of the two municipalities of the province of Eustaquio Méndez . It is bordered to the north and west by the Chuquisaca , on the south by José María Avilés Province in the southeast of the province Cercado , and the east by the municipality of San Lorenzo .
The central place of the municipality is the town of El Puente with 554 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) on the western edge of the district.
geography
The municipality of El Puente is located in the eastern Andean cordillera in the transition area between the Bolivian Altiplano and the sparsely populated Gran Chaco in the lowlands. The climate is semi-arid and is characterized by a clear contrast between the dry season and the rainy season .
The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Las Carreras) and fluctuates over the course of the year between almost 14 ° C in June / July and 21 ° C in January. The annual precipitation is hardly more than 400 mm, whereby the monthly precipitation in the dry season is less than 20 mm and only in the southern winter reaches values of almost 100 mm.
