The Lahrer Moor is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Haselünne in the Emsland district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 024 was around 21 hectares in size. It was part of the FFH area "Lower Haseniederung". The area has been under nature protection since May 25, 1932. The legal basis was the Field and Forest Police Act. In 1937, the first ordinance was transferred to the Reich Nature Conservation Act and the entry into force date was changed to August 7, 1937. On July 1, 2017, the newly designated nature reserve “ Natura 2000 nature reserve in the lower Haseniederung ” was opened. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Emsland.
The former nature reserve is located northwest of Haselünne. It was originally dominated by a large but shallow lake. The lake, which was connected to the Mittelradde , was surrounded by fens . Large parts of the lake are silted up today or have fallen dry due to the lowering of the water level. The former nature reserve consists essentially of two standing water as remnants of the former lake, surrounded by fen, on the Erlenbruchwald and willow bushes and in the silting areas of standing water reed beds grow.
Over the years, the area was drained through ditches leading to the Mittelradde and the Hase . In the 1990s, the beaver immigrated to the area from the hare. As a result of his construction work, ditches that drained the area were closed, whereupon the water level rose again and the area became increasingly wet.
